Network Test Access Points (taps) are a basic building block of network monitoring. By allowing you to “listen in” on all network traffic between switches, routers, and other features on the network landscape, taps allow you to observe the packets moving through the network without disturbing those packets. Network taps deliver 100 percent network traffic visibility, including layer 1 and 2 errors. SPAN or Mirror ports often drop malformed packets, obscuring errors. APCON passive and managed Ethernet taps bring enterprise-grade failsafe network monitoring hardware to your intelligent data traffic management system.

Solution: APCON Taps
ApconTap is a completely passive failsafe network tap device that monitors a 1G or 10G fiber optic link, splitting off 30-50% of signal for network monitoring activities. This rack-mountable solution offers up to 16 taps in a single rack-unit high chassis. ApconTap requires no power and is completely undetectable on your network.

IntellaTap is a port blade that integrates into an APCON IntellaPatch Series 3000 chassis. This blade taps up to nine 10G fiber Ethernet links, routing the tapped data stream through the switch chassis to IntellaFlex or IntellaPatch port blades. IntellaTap is a managed Ethernet tap, offering SNMP controls and a complete graphical user interface.

IntellaFlex blades in an IntellaPatch Series 3000 chassis may be configured to create an aggregation tap using three ports. This setup functions as a managed tap, but with full intelligent data traffic management control through the APCON switch software.

ApconTap Passive Tap – Data center managers use ApconTap to invisibly copy traffic from a 1G or 10G production network link and route the data stream to the network monitoring system. Multiple network taps may be designed to feed into a single APCON IntellaPatch Series 3000 switch equipped with IntellaFlex blades for aggregation and filtering.

IntellaTap Managed Tap – The IntellaTap blade integrates passive tapping with APCON's IntellaPatch Series 3000 switches. Data center managers use this product to move their Ethernet taps into the network monitoring switch to take advantage of SNMP and desktop control while maintaining the failsafe characteristics of a completely passive tap.

IntellaFlex Aggregation Tap – By using the aggregation features of APCON's IntellaFlex blades in a low-latency IntellaPatch Series 3000 switch chassis, data center managers create virtual taps using three or more ports on the switch. Advantages include signal regeneration and the ability to filter the tap data stream at ingress or egress.
