APCON Debuts New Flagship Matrix Switch at AFCOM Data Center WorldSwitch family features high-density blades, redundant controllers, hot-swappable components and smaller rack footprint Orlando, Florida, October 6, 2008 – At AFCOM Data Center World this week, APCON (booth #428) is introducing a new family of matrix switches that will significantly enhance the ability of enterprise production networks to streamline their performance monitoring programs. Well known for its IntellaPatch® line of matrix switches, APCON will be exhibiting a new flagship product line – the IntellaPatch Series 3000. This family of next-generation switches is designed specifically for today’s most demanding data center environments. It offers high-density blades – 1U high and featuring 36 ports each – that provide critical data center space savings. Users now can have 144 ports of non-blocking, any-to-any connectivity in a 4U chassis, as opposed to the 9U height that the Series 2000 chassis offers. As a result, the new switches enable management of thousands of critical network segments with a smaller overall footprint, while still delivering 100 percent network visibility. The Series 3000 line innovates further with its fault-tolerant, redundant controller cards. Unlike switches with single controllers that can halt network operations during a failure, the high availability fail-over capacity of the Series 3000 allows it to be used in-line, in the production network of an enterprise. The IntellaPatch Series 3000 is modular, offering hot-swappable power supplies and field-replaceable fans. It also allows hitless firmware upgrades and a host of advanced diagnostic features. The line is initially available in 72- and 144-port configurations, and a 36-port offering will soon be available. Blades initially available include 10/100/1000 Copper Ethernet and 100/1000 Optical Ethernet, as well as 8 Gigabit Fibre Channel and 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Like the Series 2000 line, Series 3000 switches allow secure, remote access for multiple users via an embedded web interface; and the new line is compatible with all APCON user interfaces.
