APCON Launches Aggregation & Filtering Product

3144 Chassis with Intellaflex IntellaFlex is a Packet Aggregator blade that adds aggregation and filtering capability to APCON's IntellaPatch Series 3000 switching solution. This blade allows users to aggregate multiple data links from network SPAN, Tap or mirror ports, and filter and direct the desired traffic to specific monitoring devices. In this way, users are able to electronically share expensive monitoring devices (such as analyzers and intrusion detection systems) – often across multiple locations – while preventing oversubscription and data loss.

IntellaFlex offers the highest port density in a single chassis – supporting up to 120 ports in a 4U chassis – accommodating large enterprises that typically have hundreds of mirror ports in their networks. IntellaFlex also offers the highest port aggregation density, with a maximum of 48 1G and 32 10G ports available for aggregation in a single chassis.

"In today's economy, IT managers share in the enterprise effort to reduce costs wherever possible," said Richard Rauch, president and CEO of APCON. "IntellaFlex eliminates the need for trunking multiple devices to realize the benefits of aggregation and filtering. Thus, it promises capital equipment cost savings, while contributing directly to the continued uptime of every critical network."

TITAN EnterPoint Selected as Best of Interop Finalist

EnterPoint Screen

Best of Interop 2009 logo
TITAN EnterPoint™ delivers functionality long sought after in enterprise environments: a single, centralized point of control for network monitoring activities; one that allows network engineers to manage connectivity between Layer 2/3 switches and network analysis equipment, and to identify and resolve network problems in minutes versus hours.

The innovation of EnterPoint is reflected in its primary feature - a single screen from which a user can create a monitoring session between any accessible source point and an analysis device, with only a few mouse clicks. Also available from that screen is the ability to configure data coming from a source point's SPAN port - a feature that takes several extra steps out of the typical process used to create a monitoring session.

A second, equally intuitive screen provides a dashboard view of all monitoring sessions. Crucial information such as the source and destination devices, link status, device location, user name and session duration are clearly presented. For organizations using ticket-based troubleshooting systems, EnterPoint includes a field referencing the particular job ticket associated with each monitoring session.

Reporting is another EnterPoint benefit. IT managers now have an automated method for tracking device usage, monitoring activity and device inventory. For the first time, they can see which network devices are being used at maximum capacity. This leads to fact-based decision making about whether additional capital investments are justified.

Finally, EnterPoint allows for the planning of a future monitoring session by setting a "reservation.” To do so, a user chooses an upcoming day and start time, along with the sources and destination devices, and saves them as a reservation on the EnterPoint calendar. The user can also select a configuration for the SPAN port source in a reservation, which gets applied only at the time of the monitoring session.

APCON Expands International Team

Increased global demand for its technology has prompted APCON to expand its international sales staff. As a result, the company has hired Robert Selley as International Sales Director, and Jason Hall as International Marketing Coordinator.

Robert Selley joins APCON with nearly 20 years of international sales and business development experience. Most recently, he was Director of Asian Sales for Electro Scientific Industries, following assignments as General Manager of the company’s Laser Trim Solutions Group, Director of Headquarters Sales and Director of Sales of the Semiconductor Products Group.

Jason Hall comes to APCON with international experience that dates back to 1999, when he was Regional Director for a global non-profit in South Korea. Prior to joining APCON, he was International Marketing Coordinator for Vancouver, Wash.-based Alpha-Tec Systems Medical.

"Although the global business climate is extremely challenging right now, we're optimistic that conditions will continue to improve. With these latest hires we're positioning ourselves to respond to the business we're seeing now, and to effectively take advantage of new opportunities - particularly overseas - when the turn-around begins to pick up steam," said APCON founder and CEO, Richard Rauch. "Robert and Jason represent key resources we need in place to realize that goal."

Selley and Hall will provide strategic and tactical support to APCON's distribution partners in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America.
