APCON RELEASES UPDATED TITAN SOFTWARE
New TITAN v1.5 Released September 2007
APCON's TITAN software offers an interface to electronically connect and share analysis tools, switches, routers, servers and other network devices. TITAN remotely manages connectivity for these devices both in test labs and production network infrastructures.
TITAN remotely manages connectivity for analysis tools, switches, routers, servers and other network devices in test labs and production network infrastructures.
With a single APCON switch, users can configure physical connections to create a wide array of test or monitoring topologies. Adding TITAN enables users to cascade multiple switches to create an even more expansive virtual switch matrix. This architecture scales to support complex test automation and enterprise monitoring environments supporting thousands of ports and devices.

TITAN offers enhanced Ethernet support and several industry-first features
New to this release of TITAN is support for Ethernet-based networks, which enables the software to serve a wider variety of monitoring deployments and network applications. Other powerful features, which also introduce several industry firsts, boost the program's functionality and ease-of-use. Those include:
- TITAN is first to automatically check for compatibility between devices, assuring a common rate and matching protocol.
- TITAN is also first to provide error messages when connections fail. Errors have always been detected, but never before has the system notified the user.
- When connecting several multi-rate devices, TITAN automatically selects the highest rate common to both devices.
- TITAN's port tapping, which has always been unlimited, now features easy-to-read icons and graphics.
- Output is now available in delimited format, which is readily adaptable for scripting and automation.
- TITAN offers customizable task menus for individual system users.
"Once again, APCON proves it has the industry-leading network management tool by enabling managers to more easily and efficiently leverage network resources across a distributed infrastructure," said APCON President and CEO Richard Rauch. "These new features combine to create an extremely powerful operational tool for the ever-increasing complexity of today's networks."
Connections take just a few clicks — improving efficiency and reducing errors
Through an easy-to-navigate graphical user interface (GUI) and command line interface (CLI), TITAN eliminates the need to map physical layer connections between multiple APCONs - using proprietary algorithms to perform error checking and to automatically route traffic along the most efficient connection path. The active network tool gives users a drag-and-drop canvas to visually connect devices in real time. Additionally, complex offline topologies can be created, saved and recalled for on-going use.
A single point of control — remote, secure access for multiple users
TITAN's powerful database maintains device inventory, asset management, saved connection topologies, user policies and security levels. While centralized on a network server, TITAN also provides remote access, advanced security, multi-user access and advanced logging.
